Joseph Lehn started in the antique business in 1971 buying and selling early American antique furniture.
His interest soon changed to the pursuit of paintings, prints and watercolors from the early 20thCentury. The purchase of an artists' estate of over two hundred works, oils and watercolors dating from the 1930's to the 1950's, nearly all requiring framing, started the pursuit of antique frames.
Today, in an 1861 former carriage factory in the Mount Vernon Neighborhood of Baltimore, MD, Mr. Lehn has amassed an ever increasing collection of frames, currently numbering over two thousand. The bulk of the collection consists of American frames from the first half of the 20thC including examples of the Arts and Crafts, Impressionist, Regionalist, Modernist and Abstract styles.
